Before and After Care for Morpheus8
Before Treatment with Morpheus8
No Botox in the area of treatment 2 wks prior to treatment.
Wait 6 months before treatment if superficial filler is done in the area of treatment and after stopping Accutane.
If you have a history of Herpes Simplex, let me know. You may need to be prophylactically prescribed anti-viral medication before and after treatment.
Stop anticoagulants 7-10 days prior to treatment to prevent bruising.
Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin 1-2 weeks prior to treatment (i.e. waxing, chemical peels, etc.)
Shave the area 24-48 hours prior to treatment (no more than 48 hrs).
Avoid tanning or self-tanners for at least 24-48 hrs before treatment.
Hydrate well the day before, day of and after your treatment. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
Do not wear make-up, perfume, powders, etc. the day of your treatment. The area should be clean.
Apply prescription lidocaine/tetracaine to the area 45-60 min before the treatment.
If you would like oral pain medication or anti-anxiety medication for the procedure, you will need a ride. This decision is based on your pain tolerance. Many people are able to complete the treatment without oral medications. However, if you know you have a low pain tolerance, topical numbing agents may not be enough for you. Please visit with me about any concerns regarding pain before your scheduled appointment day so we can discuss options. You may also consider bringing something to distract yourself (i.e. stress ball, music, book on tape, etc).
What to Expect After
Mild to significant bruising may occur and is typically most noticeable 24-48 hrs after treatment. Bruising typically resolves within 5-10 days. You may use Arnica suplements. Redness and swelling will likely be noted. Minor pinpoint bleeding may be noted.
Avoid anti-inflammatory medications and steroids for 1 week after.
Cooling the skin can help reduce discomfort, itching, and excessive skin response.
You may apply healing ointments (i.e. Aquaphor or Vaseline) or antibiotic ointment immediately after for 1-3 days.
Wash hand thoroughly before applying ointment and avoid touching the area for 48 hrs to avoid infection.
Avoid exercise or strenuous activity that promotes sweating as it can contribute to increased bacteria.
As soon as the needle holes close (1-3 days), apply moisturizer and sunscreen SPF 30 or higher.
Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for at least14 days after treatment to avoid scarring, uneven skin pigmentation and sunburn.
Do not use retinol, vitamin C treatments, glycolic acid for 5-7 days after treatment.
You may see an acne flare 1-2 days after treatment.
“Chicken Skin” or “Gridmarks” may be present for 1-4 weeks after treatment as the areas around the microneedling become swollen. Length of healing time depends on the individual. Skin may crust and peel depending on the person and the treatment settings.
Do not pick at the skin or scratch as it can cause scarring and hyperpigmentation.
The number of treatments required depends on the energies we are able to use. Typically, high energy treatments require 1-3 sessions every 3-6 weeks. Lower energy treatments require 2-4 sessions every 3-6 weeks.
Maintenance sessions are recommended anywhere between six months to two yrs depending on the individual. Most people prefer a maintenance session approx. every one year. Some factors that may influence this include age, hydration/nutritional status, outside activity, sun exposure, and smoking.
